Simpcky

Privacy Policy

Effective September 22, 2026 (adds the update check).

Summary

Your notes are stored on your computer. If you turn on sync (optional), they are also stored in a hidden app-data folder in your own Google Drive that only Simpcky can access. Simpcky has no servers: data goes directly from your computer to Google. There is no advertising, analytics or telemetry, and nothing is sold or shared.

Data Simpcky handles

The content of your notes (title, text, color, position, size and state) and the app preferences, stored locally in %APPDATA%\Simpcky. Simpcky collects no other data, has no accounts of its own, and does not talk to any server of its own.

Google Drive sync (optional)

You sign in on Google's own page in your browser; Simpcky never sees your password. The app requests only these scopes:

  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata — to store and read a single file, simpcky-notes.json, containing your notes, in the app's hidden data folder in your Drive. This scope does not allow the app to see, open or modify any other file in your Drive.
  • openid, email — to show you, in the app's menu, which Google account is connected. The email address is not stored anywhere else or sent to anyone.

Data travels encrypted (HTTPS) directly between your computer and Google's servers. The authorization that lets the app keep syncing is stored on your computer, encrypted with your Windows account (DPAPI).

Update check

Once a day, Simpcky asks GitHub's public API (api.github.com) whether a new version is available. The request carries no data about you or your notes, only the app's name and version. As with any internet connection, GitHub sees your IP address (see the GitHub Privacy Statement). A new version is downloaded from GitHub only when you choose to update. The automatic check can be turned off in the welcome screen or the tray menu.

Limited Use

Simpcky's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Simpcky uses that data only to sync your notes across your own computers: it is not transferred to third parties, not used for advertising, not used to train AI models, and not read by any human.

Deleting your data

  • On your computer: uninstall Simpcky and delete the %APPDATA%\Simpcky folder.
  • Stop syncing: tray menu → "Desconectar…" (Disconnect). The app asks Google to revoke the authorization and deletes it from your computer. You can also remove access from your Google Account.
  • Notes stored in Drive: in Google Drive on the web, Settings → Manage apps → Simpcky → Options → "Delete hidden app data".

Children

Simpcky is not directed to children under 13.
